The slanted roof of a modern house in the San Francisco Bay Area is echoed in this small wooden tool shed. Conceived by Astrid Gaiser Garden Design, the shed becomes an interesting part of the landscape design instead of something tucked or hidden in a corner or side yard. Gaiser even added a chalkboard for kids and adults to draw and write messages.

The decision will be based on the height and size of your storage shed. Regardless of the size of your shed, a building inspector needs to make sure that the storage building is up to code for your local area.

The female version of man caves are she sheds: havens to escape that can be designed and decorated in whatever style the owner desires. Inspired by a tiny hummingbird viewed nearby, this shed is aptly named Hummingbird Cottage. Lovely photos on Instagram reveal that the shed is used for art projects, as a retreat, displaying vintage pottery, and for entertaining friends. Extras like a hanging faux-crystal chandelier, potted flowering plants, wreaths, and stained glass give it a personal touch.

It is crucial to provide a level and dry foundation for garden sheds. Never assemble a shed on an unsound base otherwise, you run the risk that screw holes connecting the wall panels will not line up. For larger buildings, especially if you’re going to use the shed as a workshop, a full concrete base is your best option. However, there are three main popular types of shed base;
Just because you are using a garden shed, it does not mean that you cannot fancy it up! This gorgeous garden shed is the essence of luxury. This is a very beautiful shed and it matches the main house that was originally designed by J. Merrill Brown back in 1887. In fact, it’s like a miniature version of the main residence. The colors chosen for the exterior are simple but beautiful and the roof is charming as well. It has a very chic look and it’s like an updated, more elegant version of the shed presented above.

I built this shed. It is plenty big. The plans however, were a little confusing. I was able to overcome the confusion. If I had not had someone with a bit a experience helping me, it could have ended much worse. The confusion comes from the studding in the walls. It doesn't make sense, and if you follow the diagram the studs will not line up with the siding seams. You need to think it through with the reality of the shed and not the diagram. If I build another, I would also change the floor structure. It is a bit too bouncy. Needs more support. Overall, I am pleased with the shed. It will last for years. It was just a little confusing. I love the size

When it comes to time-tested building methods, it’s hard to beat a skid foundation. Builders have been using this type of on-grade foundation to support outbuildings for more than three centuries. The technique is surprisingly simple in both concept and application: Two or more long, straight timbers (skids) are laid on the ground in parallel, evenly spaced positions. The building’s floor frame is then built on the skids, which are sometimes called runners or deadmen.
Hello, Sarah! This is my first time reading your blog, and I think this is a very fun idea. I had never heard of a “Pub shed” before, some place you could use for drinks/snacks/entertaining, but also for much needed extra storage in the house! I’m not a DIYer, but I know I get challenged getting all entertainment center, mini music studio, and mini gym/training area in one bedroom, but I manage! haha! It will be fun to see how you get this project done.
the biggest problem I had was that the instructions I downloaded from the manufactures web site had a different cut list than the documents that came with the kits. I had already cut the lumber based on the downloaded list so I was dismayed to find that two of the lengths specified in the packaging were longer than the ones I cut from the downloaded plans. I did try assembling an arch with both specs, but nether of the lengths resulted in an arch that actually matched the frame. I wound up forcing things to fit and got the framing up, but it was much harder than it looked and you need at least three people to put it all together.
I’m looking at putting a 10 x 12 shed in our back yard (Michigan). I’m wondering what would be recommended – if anything – for a base. It looks like, from the installation process photos, that the builder will assemble the foundation and can put that directly onto the grass. Our ground is level enough – within the 6″ required – so I don’t think that would be an issue. It sounds like – from what i am reading – that I wouldn’t NEED to do anything to prepare in terms of putting down stone or anything. Is that correct?

Before you shingle the roof, install metal drip edge. Then nail a row of starter shingles along the bottom of the roof. Install the rest of the shingles according to the package instructions. Before painting, we filled spaces on the exterior with acrylic caulk. Then we rolled and brushed two coats of top quality acrylic exterior paint onto the trim and siding. When all of this is done, your pub shed will be complete!
