If you're like most people, your shed is probably a little hut in your backyard that you don't think about much—a tiny eyesore filled with rusty tools, boxes full of junk and other knick knacks.  Which is why we're loving that home owners are starting to repurpose these forgotten storage spaces into something awesome: tiny bars located in their very own backyard.
Plastic shed bases are available in various colors. We sell white, black and green so the base can be as obvious, or as inconspicuous as you like. As it’s advisable that the shed’s base is larger than the floor of the shed, you can even create a decorative boarder using the pavers, filling each with either soil and grass seed, gravel or bark – other fillings can also be used but these are by far the most popular.

This shed studio is the perfect place for relaxing, getting some work done, or even living in! Tiny homes are all the rage these days, and what better way to construct a tiny home than utilizing a refurbished garden shed. Not only is the space so cost-effective, but it can really be a great little space if you know how to work with the area well. It could turn out to be a fun project!
The blocks measure 8 in. wide by 16 in. long and come in 4-in.- and 2-in.-thick units. The thicker blocks are placed first, with the thinner “patio” blocks laid on top when you need to raise one block even with the others. In some cases, you may need to stack two or three 4-in. blocks on top of each other to raise the lowest corner of the foundation so it is even with the highest corner.
Remember small amounts of water should be added at a time, and mixed into the concrete. Be careful as excessive amounts may make the cement too sloppy and it needs to stay reasonably dry. Spread the concrete evenly and slightly above the formwork. This can be then levelled off with a long straight edge of timber resting on the formwork. Use a sawing motion slowly over the entire surface of the freshly laid concrete.

This tiny office space is perfect for those times you need to get away and focus on some important work. Whether you are a work-from-home person or an individual that has a freelance side gig, it is always great to have a space that is just for you and getting your work done. Once you have created this space, your mindset will automatically be in work mode every time you enter it.

In a Vero Beach, Florida, midcentury modern neighborhood, Sanders Pace Architecture retained the lines and essence of the original house while redesigning it for their client's 21st-century lifestyle. Although it's at the front of the house and initially might resemble a garage, the detached "shed" can be used as a private studio or for guests. Because it's located on the coast, hurricane-proof doors were needed, but cedar was installed over them for an attractive but sturdy structure.
For the shed's floor deck, use ¾-in. exterior-grade plywood; anything thinner will flex between joists. (Note that a double layer of ½-in. exterior ply is okay, too.) If you plan to store heavy items, such as a lawn tractor or woodworking machines, consider using ¾-in. tongue-and-groove plywood. This costs slightly more, and is a bit more troublesome to install, but its edges lock tightly together, creating a rock-solid, rigid floor. In areas with excessively high moisture and large numbers of wood-boring bugs--such as Florida, Alabama and the other Gulf Coast states--consider using pressure-treated plywood for the floor deck. It's particularly resistant to moisture and insects.
I placed the screws about 8 inches apart throughout the layout of the floor.  For the plywood ends that butt up against each other, I install two screws on each piece exactly next to each other.  I then used some of the leftover dirt I had and back filled the sides of the frame.  Finally, I tamped the edges with my hand tamper at a slight angle so water will deflect away from the floor.
When building the floor frame, which includes the mudsill, floor joists and perimeter band joists, use 2 x 6 or 2 x 8 pressure-treated lumber. Many prefab sheds use untreated construction-grade lumber for the floor frame, which is fine--if you plan to keep your shed indoors. Even in ideal conditions on the perfect site, a shed floor will be exposed to some moisture, and in time, untreated lumber will rot.
This nifty shed sits on the back of the property instead of near the front. This way, the shed is out of the way since it is purely a functional shed. No chance of having a party in this joint since its excessively busy storing all the garden essentials. It even has a collection space for chopped wood, which is another cool way to use a garden shed.
Not sure what to do with the old shed you aren’t using for storage? Refurbish it and turn it into a bar space! This is a fantastic idea for the couple that loves to entertain or the house on the block that is notorious for throwing parties. It is such a cute idea and given there are so many great ideas out there, you can easily turn the space into a chic bar area in no time.
4. Lay out your 4" x 4" skids properly spaced and lined up on your foundation, making sure they are level. Set the floor frame on top of the skids and measure the diagonals to make sure it's square. At this point, toe nail all joists to your skids using 16d common nails. The joists which fall at the 4', 8', and 12' lengths along your skids should be measured before nailing to make sure they are nailed exactly on center at those distances. This way,
This wooden shed could be mistaken for a tiny house. With all the decorative trim, you just need a few flower boxes at the windows to actually make this functional storage shed into an actual house! From the grey and white paint to the adorably scalloped edging, this shed is great as a standalone piece due to all the detail. In other words, this shed is adorable enough to make your whole backyard look great.

When your shed is too full of tools to park the mower inside, it's time to rethink your strategy. This shed features an extended roof on the left side that creates an outdoor storage area for things like your riding mower, your tiller, or your push mower. Not only does this type of roof add more much-needed storage space, but you can use this shady spot to work on your power tools. The long slope of the roof will easily shed rain, snow, and ice, helping to keep your equipment out of the elements all year long.
We are preparing to put together our new 8X6 Resign shed on our concrete slab on the side of the house. The problem we are having is that the slab dips lower towards the center for drainage. How do we go about creating a level foundation? What type of foundation would be best and or easiest? This will be both our first times doing a project like this. Any suggestions will help.
The fact that they’re lightweight also makes them really quick and simple to install. Each panel features an interlocking mechanism on each side which attaches in seconds to the other panels. Most people can expect to lay around 100 m2 of these plastic pavers in just an hour, so there’s no need for building your shed base to take up your entire day.

The amount of rainfall the UK is subjected to each year means that the ground is constantly trying to dry out. When a shed is placed directly onto grass or soil, as some people like to do, when it rains and ground becomes sodden, the shed (or anything heavy for that matter) will start to sink into the ground. This sinking is rarely even, as very often some areas of ground are considerably stronger, or more compacted, than others. This means that as soon as the shed starts to sink, it becomes uneven and, overtime, is left under immense pressure because of this strain.

On top of this, check that the best location in your garden allows the easiest access, including the side of the shed in order to apply treatment to your shed. Have a visual image in your head; you may not want to carry heavy objects to and from the bottom of your garden. For our summerhouses, you may want to consider whereabouts in your garden there is the best access to natural light or even the best view.
Before you cover the joists with the 4 x 8-ft. sheets of flooring, plumb and brace the 4×4 posts with diagonal 2x4s. Also stretch a string or mason’s line from front to back along the top edge of the outside joist to make sure the walls and joists  are straight. The attic floor needs to be square and have straight sides. If not, the rafters won’t fit correctly.

The post holes should be about 4 feet apart. Set up batter boards and mason's string to mark these points. The intersections of the string indicate the locations of a post corner. Use the 3-4-5 method described above to check for square at each intersection. Adjust the string along the batter boards as necessary and mark the location of the string on the batter boards.

This wood storage shed is a great element to the backyard setting since its super cute and definitely nifty. Store all your garden tools and even power tools in this shed since its large enough. It even has an adorable covered patio area where you and keep all your chopped wood. It is a good place to keep the wood dry for any upcoming fire pits or barbecues when the weather starts to get warm.
Step # 5: The concluded foundation should to certainly be stage and sq.. Do just 1 last test with an extended straight edge to see if the base is stage from just about each and every spot, as effectively as look at the diagonals to in the end verify the foundation is square. Bear in mind to brush absent any abnormal dried out sand/cement mixture that could impede the levelling of your drop. The outcome is an even, sound, stage foundation. The most perfect foundation for the producing of a backyard drop.

From what I’ve gleaned, the trend started in the UK with Community Gardens, where everyone is given an allotment to grow fresh fruit and vegetables. Oftentimes, these allotments have sheds for storing gardening tools and what not. Naturally, folks started enjoying a quick beer or cocktail in these sheds, and eventually, a few people gathered, mini happy hours casually formed, and from there, the natural evolution of bar sheds began.
It is very critical to have a dry and level foundation. It is impractical to build a shed on an uneven foundation. This will prevent the wall sections (simple diagrams for making shed from scratch) from fitting into place when you try to secure them to each other. For sheds which will need to hold heavy items, it is recommended to build a concrete foundation. The two most common methods of building the shed foundation are as follows.

Pasadena, California, is known for its Craftsman style homes, a great number of which have been carefully preserved and restored. Owned by a University of Southern California (USC)-educated architect, Nott & Associates specializes in the Craftsman style. For a backyard shed, Nott custom designed and constructed the wooden doors, which include period-perfect details and hardware.
This tiny little shed has seen some things. This shed looks as if it has been around for a great while. Maybe it was a storage shed at one point, but these days, this tiny shed look as if it is a playhouse for children. Set in a more rural backdrop, this shed pops with color against the brown trees and foliage. It is a perfect space for a child to go and have a tea party with imaginary friends or for a kid playdate.
This simple shed design features steel building siding that comes in wide sheets. These sheets allow you to cover large areas, are typically easy to put up, and are incredibly strong. You can buy new sheet metal or seek out one of the many used building material vendors in your area to help keep costs under control. Note the clear plexiglass roof and extra-large windows for additional light.

I really like the 16 x 16 Aspen and I’m currently installing my foundation and slab with a tentative purchase intent with your company. Our code here is, maximum of 256 sq. ft. shed without a permit. I’ve excavated -2′ around the perimeter and – 6″ for the pad. Right now I’m at that point of decision of concrete footer or not. I can fill my footer area with compacted 30D stone, then level the pad to grade or I could form and pour these footers which will cost a lot more bennies. I plan to frame the 16 x 16 pad for 6″ of concrete and call it a day. A few questions please; Will compacted stone under a concrete pad be sufficient for your shed? Can the shed be built without the floor in the quote if I have the concrete pad? What exact dims should that concrete pad be for your 16×16 Aspen? Thanks for your help, now back to work!

When indoor and garage storage isn't enough, sheds are a perfect way to introduce organization to your backyard—and to your life. Available in a wide variety of materials, styles and sizes, there is one certain to meet every need and price point. We found some stylish examples, beginning with this Little Garden shed with double-hung windows and Dutch door entrance. Available at Family Home Plans.
Thank you for visiting our blog. That sounds like a fun and quite rewarding project. Sounds like the scope of your project exceeds what we offer. We manufacture sheds (shells) and build them on site. However, we do not customize them to be living spaces. Unfortunately, we I can’t help answer your question. Please let me know if you have any other questions.
For this reason, I am planning to run utilities to the building including natural gas, water, sewer, etc. in order to locate the sewer line for proper flow (connection location) I was hoping to have a standard footer with crawl space installed and attached the building on top of it (just like a house). This way I could access the utilities by removing sections of the floor so I could run the sewer line (and other utilities) to exact areas of the building. Is it possible to have the building constructed/attached on top of this type of footer system?

Thank you for visiting our blog. Asphalt has no values worthy of anchoring a structure to since upheave on it can occur easily. I understand you are not anchoring to it but asphalt can get soft in extreme heat. Asphalt may compress unlike gravel, which once leveled, should remain solid for a shed foundation. Suggest you stay with proven fill under foundations such as a gravel intended for this use. Your local gravel supplier can recommend the size. I hope this helps answer your questions. Feel free to give us a call at 855.853.8558 if you have any other questions. Have a great day!
Some may think sheds are for storage. However, shed use goes far beyond that. Garden sheds can be turned into cute little spaces in the corner of the garden. Some people even turn space into a cute she-sheds or a little living space. These outdoor living spaces are a great place to get away. IDEA #3: Turn your garden shed into personal living space in your garden.

Why buy a greenhouse if you can make it yourself? Especially if it is much cheaper? A cool shed like this can be done very cheaply. The main materials needed are old replacement windows, an old door, a few pieces of wood for rafters, and some polycarbonate roofing sheets. IDEA: Rather than throwing away your old windows, door, and other materials, turn them into a greenhouse shed.
I built this shed. It is plenty big. The plans however, were a little confusing. I was able to overcome the confusion. If I had not had someone with a bit a experience helping me, it could have ended much worse. The confusion comes from the studding in the walls. It doesn't make sense, and if you follow the diagram the studs will not line up with the siding seams. You need to think it through with the reality of the shed and not the diagram. If I build another, I would also change the floor structure. It is a bit too bouncy. Needs more support. Overall, I am pleased with the shed. It will last for years. It was just a little confusing. I love the size
